It is 3 am in the middle of night and my seven month old baby just got up and cried away. So I fed him and cradled him back to sleep. Within minutes he fell fast asleep. Unfortunately, I am not a baby (how I wish I was) so I can’t fall asleep. What do I do?
Addicted To
So I open my mobile, check notifications and then start Indiblogging away. Yes, I am addicted to Indiblogger. People are addicted to Candy Crush and Temple Run but I am addicted to Indiblogger.
I am reading blogs, adding bloggers to my network, promoting their post, checking on comments and pondering over my Indi Rank.
Jealous Of
Whenever I see the badge of Top Post on Indiblogger besides a blog I get jealous. I get thinking. When? When will I write a killer blog that people will go mad about it? When will I get that stroke of creativity and churn out my masterpiece.
How do you guys do it? I mean hats off to all those bloggers who get Top Post on Indiblogger badge. Respect boss.
Pondering About
While I ponder over this and wreck my brain over a unique, out of the box idea or concept to write on, I decide to read more blogs. May be somewhere amidst these super creative blogs lies the answer, lies the hidden mantra of success.
Repeat Assertion
And then I tell myself, “Gitanjali, it takes time, lot of patience and trust on oneself to achieve one’s dream”.
I repeat my assertion – One day, one day I will have the badge of Top Post on Indiblogger. One day my blog will be promoted by 500+ bloggers. That day, that day I will stretch my arms, fall back on my writing chair, look out of my window and smile. Pleased and happy!
Till then I should diligently keep pursuing my dream.
I am addicted to Indiblogger for I desperately want that day to come. I know it is in me. It is just a matter of time. I will continue to dream on.
Matter of Fact
Meanwhile, I will take some practical steps towards achieving my dream of getting the badge:
- Increase my network. Add as many people as I can with special focus on my genre of writing.
- Create goodwill by promoting others post so I also get noticed.
- Other easy way is to look for a genre that has the least competition but then that will mean compromising (I am confused but I guess I am ready for some experiment).
- Read, comment, participate in discussions, participate in blogging competitions and win a few. Mantra is to get noticed.
- And, above all most importantly, write good stuff.
Are you also addicted to Indiblogger? Do you share my dream?

I can totally identify with your post 🙂
It all begins with a dream.
May you achieve lots of Badges, Gitanjali 🙂
Top Badge is special & the hardworking & regular people earn it regularly 🙂
Lagey raho till you join them 🙂
Thanks Anita! This is exactly what I wanted to hear at this point. I am sailing on a boat that has many people so we can support each other and keep rowing forward.
Truly Gitanjali!
That’s the spirit. Together we win 🙂
Lovely to “meet” great Bloggers. Only a few earn Top Badges, but many have “Top Posts!”. by the latter I mean Posts with great content that may or may not earn any badge 🙂
Just a matter of time Gitanjali, write more good content and it is just on its way, you are on the right track. All the best.
Feels good to be motivated and appreciated by a fellow blogger. Thanks 🙂
Gitanjali, I cannot stop myself to comment on your blog. Honestly I can say that one day your blog will also have that badge, but when will that one day will come depends entirely on you. I do understand that you have a kid of 7 months old, and giving time to IB becomes difficult for you, but then as you said you are addicted to it, and hence I can hope you will surely give some great time on it, as I do.
Here are somethings which I can say on your points:
“Increase my network. Add as many people as I can with special focus on my genre of writing.”
This is very much required, add as many people as you can, promote their useful posts, and share your comment on their blog, so that they can notice about your help to promote their blog. All the bloggers at IndiBlogger are too good and helpful, except a few one, and you will sure to get the revert of it.
Always remember one secret, those who are selfish and will look for promoting their own stuffs only, are never going to come to the top, and will never get this badge. So those who are reaching to the top are surely the great and good people, you might say I am saying this about myself (proudy guy) but it’s not about myself, it is about all those whose blog is coming on top at IndiBlogger.
“Create goodwill by promoting others post so I also get noticed.”
That I already said that you should not only vote others blog, but also visit them and comment over there.
“Other easy way is to look for a genre that has the least competition but then that will mean compromising (I am confused but I guess I am ready for some experiment).”
No way, this is actually not at all true. The competition is between all the posts which are being posted within 24 hours, not with any particular genre. It is better to write in whichever genre you feel comfortable enough. Make sure that you submit your best posts on IB, and one more thing, only submit one posts on a regular basis.
Also keep study the time when most of your followers remain active, this you can do within a few days and can get good results through it. I mean submit your post during that time frame only.
“Read, comment, participate in discussions, participate in blogging competitions and win a few. Mantra is to get noticed.”
That you can do. But focus on creating natural posts on your blog, don’t go behind all those competitions only…
“And, above all most importantly, write good stuff.”
This is crucial, very much crucial, as I said already share the best posts of yours on IB.
You know what I once created a blog post on How to get this badge on IndiBlogger on my blog I news India, I would suggest you to do read that and hope it can work wonders for you. My best wishes are there for you and love for your kid 🙂
Thank you Alok this is so motivating 🙂 I feel so charged up after reading your comment and yes you should definitely be proud of yourself. The amount of time and effort you gave in to help me says a lot. Gratitude.
You gave a very pointer about time of posting when the bloggers are most active. As you are an experienced Indiblogger can you elaborate more on exactly what time is best for posting.
Thanks again 🙂 And now on to reading your blog and collecting those pearls of wisdom.
Thank you so much Gitanjali, I am sure you must have checked that blog post on my blog. Anyways the timing which I was mentioning is like this, once day you submit your post at 6 AM, then see how many people are voting for it from your network within next two hours, let’s say you got around 3 votes during that time, monitor for next two hours and you got around 2 votes during that time, then for next two hours… Let’s say you are getting some data of like this:
6-8 AM : 3 Vote
8-10 AM : 2 Vote
10-12 Noon : 7 Vote
12-2 PM : 4 Vote
This way you can see that you were getting most votes between 10 to 12 noon. Do follow the same things for 3-4 days, and see if you are getting different types of results or are they same. Then one day you can post at 10 AM and see how many votes are you getting with that time frame.
This is the way how you can judge at what time your network of friends are most active and you can utilize that time to not only submit your post, but voting others post as well.
I know this is a bit crazy thing, but it is quite helpful as far as I can say.
Interesting.Crazy! I agree but then when you talk about stats you got to be crazy. Good idea. I am going to try and will let you know about my findings soon.
I think I found my magic time 🙂 Yayyy Thanks for the tip.
Very detailed & relevant comment, Alok just like your post 🙂
