Tanvi was excited for today finally it was the day to enter and experience Matrimandir in Auroville. She was supposed to reach the gates of Matrimandir by 7 in the morning. She ate a light breakfast, wore a cotton white suit and walked upto Matrimandir. There was a small queue at the gate. Sharp at 7 am, a lady came and opened the register. People standing in the queue were asked to write their name and other basic details in the register. They were then given a brief on Auroville and Matrimandir.
Matrimandir is the soul of Auroville city. It stand at the very centre of Auroville. Matrimandir is like a golden sphere that seems to emerge out of Mother Earth. This symbolizes emerging of a new consciousness in a person. Around Matrimadir there are 12 gardens surrounded all around and a huge Banyan tree.
The outside of Matrimadir is made of flattened square pieces of gold set in disc form. It is an awe inspiring structure and design. Once you enter inside you must maintain pin drop silence. You are given white socks to wear so that you don’t soil the inner chamber. It is pure white inside. You have to walk up a few stairs and reach the top. While you are walking up it seems you are rising in your consciousness. It is as if you are leaving all your worldly baggage’s behind.
The inner chamber has a crystal ball placed right in the centre. There is a mirror at the top which projects sunlight into a lens and then lets one ray of sun light to fall on the crystal ball. There is a thick white carpet all along and white cushions are provided for you to sit and meditate.
If you have an open mind and heart you will experience getting deep inside your own self. Tanvi was absorbing in the meditative composure of Matrimandir. The sat resting her back on one of the columns facing the crystal ball. She looked at the ray of light. Her heart felt heavy. She closed her eyes and sat there motionless.
She saw a girl in two plaits, happy, smiling and jumping around. It was pure joy. Tanvi felt such sense of happiness that inadvertently tears of joy rolled down her cheeks. She had an experience that no words can justify. Her consciousness was awakened. Her inner self was cleansed and balanced back to the centre.
Tanvi came out of Matrimandir with her soul refreshed and awakened. She kept quiet for a long time. She went straight to Solar cafe above solar kitchen and requested for a cup of green tea. She sat there thinking about her experience in Matrimandir.
Tanvi had learnt to accept and embrace her past instead of running away from it. She was happy in the present and being in the moment without being anxious of the future. Tanvi was hopeful and strong about the future. There was this inner confidence that told her that whatever there lies for her in future, she will keep the best foot forward.
