Tanvi decided to stay in Auroville for a longer period. She was enjoying her work here. She wanted to learn the nuances and planned to start something of similar genre. What exactly was yet not clear? Though, she was hopeful that when the right comes the Mother will guide her towards the same. It was just the beginning of her conscious and awakened self and there was a long way to go. However, one thing was crystal clear that she wanted to lead a conscious life making her own choices and also bearing the burden of those. She opted for a quieter and more meaningful life.
But before she could settle in Auroville for a long stay she wanted to go back home once and bridge the gap with her parents. She didn’t want to start her new life with pending issues and guilt. Whether her parents will understand and appreciate her new lifestyle was now no longer her concern, however, informing them and making them a part of it was her duty. And, she wanted to do her duty fearlessly and honestly.
She flew back to Delhi.
Her home was still the same. The dogs were still pissing on car tyres, sweepers were cleaning the road half-heartedly, maids were happily chatting at the corner of the road, fat aunties were still gossiping under the garb of morning walks and kids were reluctant to go to school. But there was no noise of her mom shouting on maids which was her usual and regular morning routine. There was an uneasy quietness. Though, the main door was a little ajar. She entered stealthily. Her mom was sitting there on the bed, sipping her morning mug of tea, watching out of the window. She looked old and tired. Her strands of white hair were tucked in a messy bun. It was the same flower printed stained nighty she was wearing though it looked quite loose on her. Her dad was nowhere to be seen. Probably he had gone for his morning walk.
Tanvi had not done this in a long time but now her heart commanded and she followed shedding away the ego that stood between her and her mom. She quietly climbed on the bed, hugged her mom from behind, and said “I missed you mom”.
She could literally hear the thumping heartbeat of her mom. She held Tanvi’s hand tightly and kissed her fist. Both of them were crying but these were tears of joy. The tears were symbolic of the happiness of loving without conditions; the happiness of realizing the strength of eternal bond of a mother and daughter relationship, and the relief of letting go off ego.
They sat like this for quite some time. The unspoken bond was disturbed when her father entered the room. He smiled seeing this bonding and his family together. “Arrey bhai maa beti ka pyar ho gaya ho toh ek cup chai pila de koi”.
