Off beat Tourist destination Offbeat East Travel My Maiden Trip to Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast by writergitanjali June 25, 2010 Next was travel by foot but this time it was wet sand………..so I had to balance my chunni, purse, Ray ban’s and tread very cautiously, wearing my sandals. Somen was walking ahead checking the sand and I was to follow his footsteps. But but……..I was educated, smart, modern woman, I could not accept the fact why he was taking a curve rather than walking straight. So in my zeal to prove my smartness and save time, I walked straight and…………IT WAS WET SAND. The moment I kept my foot, I sank knee-deep and fell. Somen turned back and chuckled seeing my pathetic condition, with sand all over my dress , hair and purse and myself sweating, for it was 12 in the afternoon. I was so embarrassed ……………..such a showdown for a new bride. But as it is said , show must go on, we kept walking, “ Somen will we reach our home in this life span?”. Extremely fatigued and disillusioned I could now see the main boat and the Brahmaputra River. It was such a mighty river, it is called the father of rivers for its might. It is such a wide river that it took almost 5 hours on boat to reach the other side. This boat ride is another interesting anecdote. Such narrow benches that an able-bodied woman like me was literally half hanging. Local tribal people smelled badly and more so the smell of indigenous tobacco and dried fish

4 years ago by writergitanjali I am addicted, to say the least! There is something about the #durgapuja #bhog I was in #cp for work on Saptami and my heart was sad on the thought of missing bhog. But as Maa would have it, there was an hour long lunch break, Google said Minto road durga pujo is just 5 mins away from my location and my collegues from #SouthAsia wanted to see what this huge celebration was all about. So, be it. I was there at puja pandal with my collegues from #Nepal #bhutan & #srilanka all enjoying the home cooked food. And I am

Attu loved the gems decorated muffin. Pujo is about giving platform and encouraging talent. 4 years ago by writergitanjali What do you think about the most controversial blog post of mine?⠀ ⠀ Dear Navratri celebrating North Indian,⠀ ⠀ Since years I get this look when I say or cook fish during Navratri, “Arrey baap re, you are having non-veg”, followed by “these 9 days we don’t even touch garlic or onion” which implies that I am doing a sin.⠀ ⠀ Once a lady tested my patience by surmising, “What kind of puja you Bengalis do. You eat non-veg and say that it is your puja”, I actually had no answer to this judgmental behavior but seethed in anger and

4 years ago by writergitanjali Thank you @techcampglobal for an amazing learning opportunity. I feel #empowered & #enabled with #tools to move forward in my #entrepreneurial #journey with @infertility_dost Collaborating with women from #Pakistan was so insightful for our taboos are same and out perspective on women are sadly, same. Shared similar experiences and learnt that I am NOT alone. Thanks @culturalvistas @usa_embassy for organizing this collaborative #Techcamp #SouthAsia
